Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the relieving effect and therapeutic effect of topically external application
of Decoction of Capejasmine and Phellodendron on the symptoms of tibial fatigue periostitis in track and field
athletes. Twenty-eight track and field athletes who are diagnosed as tibial fatigue periostitis in the Department
of Physical Education of X University are selected as the subjects of study. According to the random number
table method, all patients are randomly divided into research group and control group, 14 in each group. The
patients in the control group are treated with massage, three times a week for four weeks. On the basis of
massage therapy, the patients in the research group are given Decoction of Capejasmine and Phellodendron for
external application in the lower leg and tibia. Wet compress should be maintained for 30 minutes, twice a day
for 4 consecutive weeks. Two groups of patients are treated for 4 weeks as a course of treatment. After one
month of continuous observation, the therapeutic effect, the degree of pain and the quality of life of the patients
are evaluated. Firstly, after 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the control group is 78.57%, and that
of the research group is 92.86%. There is a significant difference in the total effective rate between the two
groups (P < 0.05). Secondly, after 4 weeks of treatment, the visual analogue scale (VAS) of the control group
and the research group are (2.03 ± 1.38) and (0.80 ± 1.04) respectively. Compared with the group before
treatment, the VAS of the research group and the control group decreases, and the difference between the
research group and the control group is statistically significant (P < 0.05). Thirdly, after 4 weeks of treatment,
the scores of physical function, role function, emotional function and quality of life in the research group are
significantly higher than those in the control group, and the difference has statistical significance (P < 0.05).
However, there is no significant difference in social function between the two groups (P > 0.05). External
application of Decoction of Capejasmine and Phellodendron can expand blood vessels and improve the local
blood circulation of the lower leg through thermal and pharmacological effects, which can effectively alleviate
the symptoms of pain and swelling in patients, thus achieving the effect of treatment of diseases. Decoction of
Capejasmine and Phellodendron combined with massage therapy has a significant effect on tibial fatigue
periostitis and pain relief. It can improve the overall quality of life of patients and is worthy of clinical
application.
